For teachers

Storiascopio is free and needs no account: open it on the interactive whiteboard and use it straight away. Worksheets can be printed, quizzes projected, and pupils can find everything again at home with the QR code.

Whiteboard mode

Bigger text, stronger colours and huge buttons, on every page until you switch it off.

Worksheets to print

One for every era (two A4 sides, with exercises and answers) and one for each of the 300 events (one A4 page).

Compare two eras

Pick two eras, for example Greece and Rome, and see people, politics, science, daily life and art side by side.

Compare

Project the quiz on the whiteboard

Full-screen questions with big text, to read together in class. Choose the era:

Five classroom activities

  1. Guess where we are

On the whiteboard, zoom into a random point: the class looks at “You are here” and tries to name the era before you read it together.

  2. The class diary

Each child reads one event from the lesson at home: their diary marks it on its own. The next day the class reviews together, putting three events in order.

  3. Before or after?

Two teams, two events at a time: whoever guesses which one comes first wins a point. The era quiz does this on its own.

  4. Meanwhile, elsewhere

Open a card and read “Meanwhile, elsewhere in the world”: it is the simplest way to talk about things that happened at the same time.

  5. Two eras side by side

With “Compare”, put Greece and Rome, or the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, side by side: you see at once what changes in people, politics, science, daily life and art.

Eras, school years, worksheets and quizzes

The eras, the worksheets and the quizzes follow the Italian history curriculum for primary and lower secondary school (the Indicazioni nazionali per il curricolo, Ministerial Decree 254/2012, replaced by Decree 221/2025: the new ones apply from 2026/27 to first-year classes only, the other classes still follow the 2012 text until 2028/29 in lower secondary and 2030/31 in primary school). It asks pupils to use the timeline to put facts in order and to recognise sequences, things that happen at the same time and durations, and to learn about science, technology and everyday life too. The school years in the table are the most common ones in Italy: every school can organise them differently.

Every card has its source, but a mistake can always slip through. Write to me at [email protected]: I will correct it and, if you like, thank your class on the Method and sources page.
